Of Bed, Guitar and 小笼包

I know it sounds really odd, but ya, I managed to combine all the elements that were requested. A good friend's friends wanted to surprise her with a bdae cake and asked that I bake her a cake. It's a salted egg flavoured cake and I hope it'll be well recieved! :)

The original pillows were blue and the husband said they looked like erasers:(, so I remade orange ones, hopefully they look more like pillows. 

The 小笼包 are cushions if I really want to fit them in the theme, hahaha. 

I don't know how the cake looks when cut, but here's a photo of the salted egg buttercream and custard to intensify the flavour. 

Oh yea...

My first fondant cake! Quite a challenge... The fondant 'sweat', but thank God it was salvaged after placing in aircon room. Hope it survives the humidity...

It's a 2 tiered cake, the lower tier is a carrot cake with cream cheese frosting and covered in white fondant. The upper tier is a Christmas fruit cake with baileys swiss meringue buttercream, covered in golden yellow fondant. The 'beer foam' is plain swiss meringue buttercream. I love the baileys SMBC, it's smooth and fragrant. I'll probably use the leftover for macarons or cupcakes soon. :)

I think it looks okay...

Exciting

I'm in the process of making a cake order, 3 items in all. Super excited. So I started planning 2 weeks before, the challenge was transporting the cupcake bouquets and the first method didn't work, but thank God for a solution which I only thought of on the actual day of delivery. Think it'll work! Hope the ladies like the bouquets and the carrot cake. I tested both recipes, should be good! :)
